2.0L & 2.3L Duratec Engine story

Minister Power were developing the Ford/Mazda Duratec engines way back in 2003. In fact we put our first, (completely built in house) 2.3L Duratec engined Caterham Series 3 demonstrator car on the road in 2004.

We soon brought out a range of engines in 2.0L and 2.3L variations by importing the 2.3L engines from the USA.

With power ratings from 190BHP to 270BHP the Duratec engine became popular due to it's strong torque characteristics.

Because of our experience with the Duratec engine we were the natural choice of Caterham Cars and Cosworth to be the sole provider for after sales support to their road and track customers.

With our engineers trained and vetted in the Cosworth F1 workshops, our working relationship grew over time with a mutual respect for the qualities each party had to offer our customers.

Whilst Cosworth could manufacture the quality components Minister Power required, Minister Power had the flexibility and experience in the club racing world that its customers required.

Minister Power are proud to now retail Cosworth Duratec engines in a matching power range as we have always offered.

By combining our efforts we have been able to reduce the costs of tooling and development yet still produce the equivalent specification engines to the same high standards that you would expect of both Cosworth and Minister Power.
